I am new here and have already enjoyed reading the posts. I have a problem that maybe someone can help me out with.
I am a sole proprietor and I work on Governmental Audits. I just audit small cities and do a few people's boookkeeping. I have been in the field for about 13 yrs and on my own for 6 years. But here is my problem.
A city I audited, year end June 30, 2004, received a letter from our Dept of Natural Resources requesting a copy of their audit, in addition they referenced that it should also have been a A-133 audit. It was not. When I did the research into the grants received by the city, the city clerk and I determined that there was not funds expended in excess of $500,000. Here was the problem, apparently the state had several grants, some partially federally funded in the beginning and all state funded in the end. When I asked the state about the funds, at the time I asked them, the funds were all state, so no federal. But, the funds that this city received were prior to the grant going all state funded. So the bottom line is there should have been a A-133 Audit performed and there was not.
Do I have to double date the new report? How do I issue this new report? Any ideas?
