Hi,

We get clients that have a difficult time exporting from their prospective accounting softwares into excel. I was wondering if anyone knew of a guide that covered how to export from the major accounting softwares or possibly even a book or something that would address this.

Thanks,
Eamon

Have they tried exporting as a comma delimited CSV file? Most accounting software programs have this capability and it is a recognized format in Excel

I am using my own skills to take advantage of the MS Excel - Query, VBA, Pivot Table, Open Data Base Connectivity.
First you have to know the type of table used in the accounting software, and then connect them to a pivot table to form the trial balance….. Etc
You could work from software to Excel or from Excel to any software (ODBC compliance)

More information on my methodology will be available upon request

Try your accounting software help on exporting text files. Excel's help is pretty good in this area for importing as well but for the most part the wizard that pops up walks you right through the process.
